A day in the life of a Fashion Assistant

InStyle

Kerry Maher, former Fashion Week Assistant at InStyle Magazine let us into a few fashionista secrets - including the perfect gift for those always on the go (clue: we were delighted!).

'Before I started at InStyle Magazine, I had worked at Topshop for years, starting off in-store, then moving into the PR team in London. As soon as I had done my first day in PR I knew it was what I wanted to do. Everyone thinks fashion PR is glamorous and on some days in fashion week it can be. Walking Kendall Jenner into the Topshop show was one of my personal highlights! But most of the time it’s just incredibly hard work, with lots of perseverance and plenty of brute strength needed when it comes to lugging the volumes of samples from venue to venue.

'During Fashion Week, it’s so busy that I barely get chance to eat, and any social life goes out of the window! There’s no way I can get to friends' birthdays which can be annoying, and I feel bad about it. I always still try to send them a gift that’s thoughtful and personal, but finding one can be a challenge. Even though I can be running across London organising samples, I don’t get chance to shop so I try and have a quick look online for gifts when I’m having lunch or when I get home. That’s where I came across Thanks I Love It. Their hand curated gift sets are full of fab products by independent designers and makers - perfect for sending a thoughtful gift with minimal effort.

'One of the most exciting things about working at InStyle magazine was the exposure to new and upcoming designers. They often have some of the most innovative and forward thinking styles.  And that’s another great thing about Thanks I Love It; they work with some of the most exciting growing designers and brands in the UK. They even have exclusive products that are only available to Thanks I Love It – so you can’t find them anywhere else. Perfect for giving a gift that’s both unique and stylish.

'It was easy to find a set that I knew my friend would love, The Lush is full of Prosecco and cocktail-based treats, so even though I couldn’t join her for a drink, I was there in spirit!'

The Lush is a particular favourite of ours, too - we're so glad we could help out. You've heard it from a professional - now treat your fashionista besties to their very own Lush, TreatGlam or Minimalist box!
